Acceptance is knocking. Will you answer?
Rolling into summer, looking around, and ready to live it all right alongside you.
Sometimes we struggle to accept what’s happened in the past, what’s happening right now, or what we think is going to come to be in the future.
I’ve spent lots of my emotional and mental energy fighting to accept certain things. At times, this level of vision has served me. But other times, it has prolonged suffering.
How do we move forward well with acceptance?
What about accepting what it is you want for your life and work?
What do you want right now?
I am genuinely asking you this question, and I would encourage you to create some space in your day to sit down and write out your answers.
My invitation is for you to accept that something matters to you without getting pulled into the how.
You may be surprised what comes up for you when giving yourself room and time to respond to a question like this.
Feelings of unworthiness, shame, and resistance are actually common occurrences for the kinds of creatives that I have the honor of serving, and for myself, too. It’s a path I know well.
It can feel odd to take up your own kind of space, to listen within, and to respond truthfully.
It’s helpful to just begin on a notebook page where no one has to see it but you. Last week in a coaching session, I asked us to do this together, and as a bit of exposure therapy for myself, I brought my notebook downstairs afterwards and kept the page opened to this list. I found myself moving it to different spots in different rooms, almost trying out what it was like to look down and see what was there in my day-to-day life. It was exciting!
My clarity around acceptance is stemming from my own painful experience last month of losing our dog, facing hard conversations, and coming to terms with transitions we are facing. It was a time of depth and beauty for my family. Of savoring, letting go, celebrating, and accepting.

It’s so hard to bear when it’s happening, but I know we are better for the storms.
We are currently collapsing into summer now, prepared to soak in every slow day.
There is peace here, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
One creative thing I decided to do last month to get my energy moving towards something positive was to build out my YouTube channel. While I’ve used it regularly to host my private coaching videos for the last decade plus, I haven’t used it much in a forward-facing way. I’m creating 5 mini videos a week there, and it’s going really well.
This past week, here’s what was covered:
These videos are meant to journey alongside you and be a companion for your transformation and growth.
